Playing the waiting game.

Today was “Assessment Day“. So a few weeks or so ago, I applied online using a recruitment company to become a member of the Cabin Crew. To be completely honest, I totally forgot about applying until I received an email from them to answer a few questions … it wasn’t a “few” it was a lot! So I answered the questions and submitted. I assumed that would be the last time I would hear from them as I thought I was too short for the role and also have no qualifications to back me…  Boy, was I wrong!

After another week flew past, I finally received another email asking to attend an “Assessment Day” at the airport of my choice as well as a few different date options. I chose Friday 10th Feb at Luton Airport, as it was the most convenient drive out of the other London Airport options. I arrived at the Academy at around 7:50am and that’s when the fun began! I signed myself in at reception writing down my car registration plate and was told to make my way to the canteen where all the other candidates were.

Everyone was so lovely! I cant get over how lovely, sweet and kind the candidates as well as the staff were (and there must have been around 40 candidates, if not, more!). In groups of five we were asked to follow a member of staff to get our heights measured… I was the shortest one, so I was pretty terrified that I would be too short to make the cut! Once this was done we were all taken into a big conference type room and was given a few team tasks to do, which were so much fun!  Then, we were all told to go on our lunch break and after lunch they would make a few cuts and some people may have to go home (I was terrified that I would be one of those people). Lunch gave us all a bit more of an opportunity to speak to one another and it was probably the nicest experience I have ever taken part in. We all added one another on Facebook as we knew there were going to be cuts once the lunch break was over.

Around five people were called out and asked to follow two members of staff outside the conference room – as soon as they had left the room and the back door was firmly closed, the member of staff at the front of the presentation said “Congratulations guys you have been selected!” We all looked at each other in disbelief, excitement and relief… such a mixture of emotions! Then we individually were taken to have a one on one interview with a member of staff, and again, they were so lovely and friendly which made it feel like such a relaxing experience!

We were all told that we would hear from the airline company in the next seven to ten working days whether it be good or bad news (I’m hoping and preying good!).

Now to play the waiting game.
